Seniors Donation to the League of Friends Stratton Hospital.

Our Senior section recently donated £400.00 to The League of Friends Stratton Hospital.  This was collected over the year from each member (50p) of the seniors when their ball went in to water!

Pictured are Ann Furse and Len Hancock

Thank you from Horace Parsons

On behalf of Bude Surf Life saving Club, I would like to thank everyone for an excellent day on Friday.

103 players played, in weather conditions that would have been hard to better, at this time of the year. I would like to thank the green staff, on behalf of all the competitors and club members, for delivering a course that is becoming recognised as one of the better courses in Cornwall and Devon, thank you to you all.

I would also like to thank Sam and Pat for collecting all the fees and selling draw tickets, Simon Greatbatch for having all the cards and handicaps ready for the day, Adam and Harry in the shop and the staff from Exclusive, for keeping everyone fed and watered. Also a big thank you to Mr. President, (Jerry) and Mark Jenkins, for all of your help in the build up to the golf day and the day itself. Finally, thank you Mr Captain, for turning up very early to help out and for your very kind words before the presentation, that must have hurt!!!

The biggest thanks go to all the members and guests who played in the competition, others who could not play and friends who came to the party in the evening. The contributions you all made for towards  Bude SLSC raised an amazing £1450.00.

Thank you all so much.

Horace,

(Just for Chunky, Adrian John Parsons)!!

Masters Prize Draw 2020

🟢 M A S T E R S 🟢 P R I Z E 🟢 D R A W 🟢
See the link attached for the 2020 Masters Prize Draw:
Apologies for the delayed draw – I wanted to wait for the official start times to make sure there were no more withdraws due to Covid.
We managed to fill 2 whole sheets of 92 players so the squares are 2 entries per professional.
Please see the number your name is in and the Professional with the same number will be your drawn player.
There will be daily prizes as below –
Best round for each day will win a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1, Pro V1x or AVX
Worst round of each day will win a sleeve of Titleist TruFeel
The main prizes will be posted on Monday after the event.
All ties will be decided on best final round score.
Good luck!
My pick is a boring safe one in Bryson Dechambeau, I cant see anyone beating him if he putts well with the distance he is hitting the ball.
My outside pick would be Tony Finau who is always a strong contender in major championships and especially at Augusta.
Who do you think will won the Green Jacket?

Ladies Victorious at County Event

Despite heavy rain as we set off, the day quickly turned in a sunny dry one to enable all 120 players to enjoy this County competition. By lunchtime Bude had posted a good score with two pairings on 72, 76 with all to play for in the afternoon session.

Lunch break was spent quickly refuelling with our customary picnic and gave us the chance to catch up with each other’s progress.

The afternoon again went well for the Bude team of six. Playing against the ladies from Killiow, everyone enjoyed their golf, with the course proving an excellent venue for this fixture. Two more scores in the 70’s, meant the team were on for a great placing.

We all knew our lead off pair, Collette and Mandy had done exceptionally well and the day could not have ended better than for their names to be called as the winners of this year’s Baron Rose Bowl Trophy. A very proud moment for me as Lady Captain and for the whole team, who played really well and finished in tied 5th position.

But huge congratulations to Collette and Mandy, flying the flag high for Bude.

Kay Dinsdale

Lady Captain

Ladies Away Day

Bank holiday Monday saw eighteen of our Bude ladies wind their way down to Lanhydrock Golf Club for bacon rolls at 10am. The weather was beautiful and the teams of three began teeing off at 11am on a beautiful course which we had almost to ourselves. With nearest the pins, two scores to count and the ‘sports ball challenge’ to negotiate everyone just focused on having fun. The course was ablaze with stunning rhododendron bushes and bluebells, with photo opportunities around every corner. We all then enjoyed presentation of prizes and a two course dinner before heading for home. Winning team on the day was Jo Tilbury, Kathy Cheeseman and Cate Haggas.

Commiserations to the Frank Wills

On Sunday 25th November your Frank Wills team played Carlyon Bay Golf Club at St. Enodoc. It was a disappointing day for us as we lost 4:1 on what was a closer match than the final result appears. We started well and at the turn we were leading 4:1 and looking good, but as many of you will know, holes 10 to 15 are challenging to say the least, and they were our undoing.

Congratulations to our opponents who played those holes well, which put them in a winning position.

And may I also add my congratulations to our new Frank Wills players, Paul Haddon and Nick Swan who won both their round 1 and 2 matches.

I would like to thank the following players, who stepped up to the plate to represent you …

Dave Ward, Micky Hudson, Horrace, Andrew Pelling, Phil Davies, Phil Stanbury, Steve Bartrop, Paul Haddon, Nick Swan, Lee Mears, Andrew Finley.

I would also like to thank Dave and Christine Simmons, Gary Stone and Pete Greatbatch for turning out in support on what was a cold morning.

It was my pleasure to be your Frank Wills Captain for 2019, I enjoyed the challenge, and look forward to next year’s competition.

Warmest Regards

Congratulations to Frank Wills Team

On Saturday 27th October your Bude Golf Club Frank Wills 2018 team played their first-round match at a very windy Bowood golf course, and came out winners 4.5 to .5.

Although the result was a resounding win, all the matches had their ups and downs, with both Bude and Launceston pairs gaining and losing leads throughout the 18 holes, but as a team we held on to complete the win, with the following results:

Match 1. Dave Ward & Micky Hudson match won 2&1.
Match 2. Andrew Pelling & Adrian Parsons match halved.
Match 3. Mark Duncan & Phil Davies match won 4&2.
Match 4. Phil Stanbury & Steve Bartrop match won 2&1.
Match 5. Paul Haddon & Nick Swan match won 4&3.

So overall a great team performance, and we look forward to playing Carlyon Bay in round 2 on the weekend of 24/25 November venue to be decided. I would like to thank all the players for taking their time to play for our club, I know they are all proud to do so, and I would also like to say a big thank you to Dave and Chris Simmons, for taking the time to support us on the day, and helping myself by relaying score updates during the match.

So, as we look forward to our next challenge against Carlyon Bay, I would
like to say again, well played to all our team members, thanks to Charlotte
and Tony in the office for their support, and I look forward to updating you again after our round two match.

Thanks,
Mark Duncan
